How much does trip insurance cost?

Well, this depends on a lot of things. The cost is going to depend on whether or not you’re taking an airplane or a cruise ship, the dates of travel, where are you traveling from, and how much your trip is going to cost.

I recently did some research for a trip to Cancún on an airplane in the month of June for 2020. I live in Texas and I estimated the cost of my trip to be $1,500. Travelguard gave me three different packages to choose from. The Essential package was $90.01. I’m assuming this is the bare bones. Next, they offered the Preferred Package for $109.91 which I’m guessing includes a little more, and finally, they offered the Delux Package at $141.77

The cost of the insurance varied from 6% of the trip cost up to 9.4%.  now let’s get into what all the insurance actually covers.

What does the actual insurance cover?
